For years I worked as a labour and delivery midwife—an incredibly rewarding job, but not just cuddles and baby giggles like people often think. Over time, the stress took a toll, and I knew I needed to slow down and find a way to support my nervous system and mind.
Knitting became part of that healing. I started with needles (my first blanket had some… creative holes), then discovered finger knitting—and everything changed. The calming, repetitive motion became a kind of therapy. It helped me rebuild my confidence, and reconnected me to a slower, more peaceful rhythm.
I’ve always had an eye for styling—before midwifery, I worked in interior design. Now I handmake every Cosy Knits piece in Brisbane using cloud-soft yarn and just my fingers, creating cosy, textural pieces filled with care and calm.
